So here it is. A little sampler project for getting started in sashiko, but without the pre-printed kit. Don’t get me wrong, I think the Olympus kits are wonderful, but I’m a coloring-outside-the-lines kind of person, and maybe you are too.
The kit contains four pieces of indigo yukata cotton with designs of iris, origami cranes, squares and festive pinwheels. They measure roughly 14″ x 13″ (36 cm x 33 cm) each and are a deep indigo blue with white. A 40 meter skein of white sashiko thread and a pair of needles are included in the kit, all for $15.50. An optional leather thimble is available separately in my shop.
I’ll start on the how-to part of this project tomorrow after I’ve washed and prepared everything, so stay tuned!
What a beautiful blog!!!! I’m sooo amazed! I love all the Japanese fabrics and I can’t wait to see your project to be completed!! Oh my god! I’m so thrilled that you left me a comment and now I’ve found you!!!!!
