About

tat_bio

I’ve been sewing since 1978, researching Japanese textiles since 2004, blogging on The Ardent Thread since January 1, 2008, and writing for publications such as Stitch Magazine since 2010. I teach, lecture, sell, and collect as many beautiful textiles (and books about them) as I can. Following the threads of weavers long past, I aim to unravel their techniques and learn patience and perseverance along the way. Have a topic you’d like to see me unravel? Contact me!

This blog is connected to my Etsy store, KimonoMomo. You can follow me on Facebook and Twitter, where you’ll get all the latest on sales, new item listings, and other goodies. Check me out on Pinterest to see projects I’m working on and what has caught my eye this week (Victorian costuming? World travel? More indigo?).

  6. I would like to buy Alexander Henry Ajisai Sister cotton fabric.
But first I like to know if the fabric is suitable to make a blouse
    from it.
Please can you answer me, then I make to order from Etsy.

    1. The Alexander Henry fabric is a quilt-weight fabric, so yes, I think it would make a nice blouse.

    1. Hi Reginia,

I have a studio in Alameda open by appointment, and I run a Meetup group called the East Bay Sashiko Workshop which also meets in Alameda and the South Bay once a month.

Do you sashiko? I’m a sashiko instructor and textile importer in the SF East Bay Area looking to spread the sashiko love. Even if you’ve never sewn before, you can do sashiko….

  8. Donna Moir says:

Is it possible for you to show us (me) how you make your mini kimons ?

    1. Hi Donna,

Sure! It’s an all-day class, so if you have a local guild who might be willing to host me, I’d be happy to teach it.

      Carol

  9. Donna says:

Unfortunately you are in Cal. and I am in Maine, so getting together is out of the question. Do you have a u-tube vid.?

    1. I don’t have a video for the mini kimono as it is too complex to cover in a brief video, but I may have a kit/pattern put together at some point.

  10. Donna says:

Hi, a kit with detailed instruction would be great. Let me know when.

  11. Carol Morrow says:

Are you going to be in Paducah Kentucky this fall?

    1. Hi Carol, Yes! I will be there. Super excited, it’s my first time. How about you?

  12. Ann Ouellette says:

Will you be at QuiltCon in February?

    1. Hi Ann, we won’t be at QuiltCon in Feb. 2019, but we will be at Road to California in Jan. 2019.
